Charming and colourful, you’ll find Wildwood Kitchen and Deli nestled down a quaint side street just a few steps from Worcester High Street.

We stumbled upon it on route from the car park to the shops. You can’t miss it; it takes centre stage amongst its neighbouring chain restaurants thanks to its open-plan glass interior and al fresco terrace.

It’s 10.30am on Bank Holiday Monday and we’re here for breakfast.

We order tea and coffee then my attention quickly moves to the menu where I’ve spotted American Style Pancakes topped with banana, blueberries, Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey.

It’s rare for a restaurant to offer a healthy alternative to this US breakfast favourite; typically served swimming in syrup or piled high with ice cream.

In less than ten minutes my sunshine yellow pancake plate arrives. It doesn’t disappoint; there’s even the added surprise of a strawberry topping.

You’ll also find the choice of sautéed mushrooms or salmon with scrambled eggs, warm smoked peppered mackerel, eggs florentine, warm waffles, muesli or a full English for those ready for a morning feast with the best sausages you’ll ever try – as declared by my other half.

Visiting Worcester for a wedding, I’m hoping the small group of Wildwood restaurants will add a Sheffield venue to their growing portfolio.
