Whilst an image of sun, sea and sangria usually springs to mind when you think of holidays to the Algarve; drive west from the coast and you’ll stumble upon the undiscovered, quiet, picturesque village of Caldas de Monchique.
I was lucky enough to be invited to stay at the Macdonald Monchique Spa and Resort to try out their detox package – a three-day calorie-controlled diet, personal training sessions, relaxation classes and detox spa rituals.
